Khadi Fest 2025 at Kamaraj Women’s College – Promoting Sustainability

Khadi Fest 2025 Highlights Sustainability at Kamaraj Women’s College

On 25th July 2025, Kamaraj Women’s College, through NSS Unit No.248, successfully hosted Khadi Fest – 2025. The event aimed to promote sustainable living and raise awareness about traditional Indian craftsmanship.

The Tuticorin Sarvodaya Sangh set up a special stall on campus. It showcased a wide range of handmade Sarvodaya products including khadi clothing, eco-friendly items, and artisanal goods. These products reflected India’s rich heritage. Moreover, they emphasized the importance of environmentally conscious consumption.

Dr. M. Vanmathi, Principal of the college, inaugurated the event and made the first purchase. Meanwhile, Dr. P. Aruna Devi, NSS Programme Officer of Unit No.248, coordinated the event effectively, ensuring smooth execution throughout.

In total, 385 students and staff visited the stall. Many appreciated the initiative and actively engaged with the sellers. As a result, the event helped students understand the value of supporting local artisans and adopting sustainable practices.

Additionally, the fest aligned with national goals such as “Vocal for Local” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat.” It encouraged students to reconnect with India’s roots and take pride in rural industries.
