Alumni Interactive Session – A Meaningful Engagement

The Department of Microbiology at Kamaraj Women’s College hosted a special event titled “Alumni Interactive Session” on 24th July 2025. The session began at 11:30 AM and took place in Venue III, B.Sc. Microbiology Block. The event was attended by faculty members, students from all undergraduate years, and other well-wishers from the department.

This interactive session was carefully planned with the objective of strengthening the connection between current students and alumni, while also encouraging academic and career-oriented discussions.

Meet the Alumni – A Source of Inspiration

Miss Suminsha and Miss Pavithra, proud alumni of the Department of Microbiology, were the guests of honour for this session. Both of them have made remarkable progress in their respective academic and professional journeys. Their presence and enthusiastic participation added immense value to the event.

The alumni began by sharing their experiences as students of Kamaraj Women’s College. They spoke warmly about their time in the department and acknowledged the support and encouragement they had received from faculty members. This set a positive tone and helped current students relate to them more closely.

Academic and Career Insights from the Alumni

Miss Suminsha shared her journey of pursuing higher education in Microbiology and the challenges she faced during her transition from undergraduate studies to post-graduation. She also discussed the importance of internships, laboratory skills, and project work in building a strong foundation in the life sciences.

Miss Pavithra focused on her professional experiences after graduation. She spoke about career opportunities available in research, diagnostics, and pharmaceutical companies. She emphasized the role of continuous learning and self-discipline. Her insights into how she prepared for job interviews and acquired real-world skills were particularly helpful to the final-year students.

Interactive Q&A – Student Engagement

One of the highlights of the session was the open Q&A round. Students eagerly asked questions about job opportunities, higher studies, choosing specializations, and balancing academic pressures. Both alumni responded with patience and clarity, offering practical advice rooted in their own experiences.

Students expressed their appreciation for the honest and detailed responses. Many noted that they felt more confident and motivated after hearing directly from those who had once been in their place.

Stronger Alumni-Student Bonds

The event not only offered academic guidance but also reinforced the spirit of community within the department. The alumni shared stories of teamwork, departmental events, and faculty mentorship, reminding everyone of the vibrant learning environment at Kamaraj Women’s College.

This session served as a reminder that education is not limited to textbooks. Through personal connections and shared experiences, learning becomes more impactful. It also highlighted the importance of alumni in shaping the future of an institution by mentoring and motivating the next generation.

Faculty Appreciation and Concluding Remarks

The department extended heartfelt gratitude to Miss Suminsha and Miss Pavithra for taking the time to reconnect with the college and guide the students. Faculty members commended the alumni for their growth and willingness to give back.

The event concluded with a group photo, followed by informal interactions over refreshments. Students left the hall feeling inspired, and faculty members expressed interest in organizing similar events in the future.

A Step Toward Ongoing Mentorship

The Department of Microbiology plans to continue this initiative and invite more alumni to share their journeys. Such sessions not only encourage students to aim higher but also cultivate a supportive network that lasts beyond the college years.
