Industrial Visit – Kamaraj Women’s College Fashion Technology

On 25th July 2023, the Department of Fashion Technology at Kamaraj Women’s College organized a hands-on industrial visit to Akruthi Apparels in Aandipatti, Theni. The visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to garment manufacturing.

The HR and IE Manager welcomed the students and introduced the company’s profile, history, and products. Students then explored each stage of production—from fabric inspection to final packing. They saw how machines detect defects, how knitted fabrics are cut, and how different sewing machines like overlock, flatlock, and cover stitch operate.

Staff explained quality checks at every step. Students also observed the final inspection and packaging of garments such as t-shirts and innerwear.

During a Q&A session, students asked about knitting defects, machine efficiency, and job opportunities. The Production Head gave clear and practical answers.

In total, 60 students took part in this industrial visit by Kamaraj Women’s College, gaining real-world insights into the fashion industry.
