Value Education Guest Lecture
The Department of Microbiology, Kamaraj Women’s College, Thoothukudi, organized a Value Education Guest Lecture titled “Values 2.0 – Upgrade Your Life” on 22 December 2025 at the KWC Seminar Hall.
The Value Education Guest Lecture aimed to strengthen moral values, ethical thinking, emotional intelligence, and essential life skills among students. Therefore, the programme focused on shaping responsible individuals who can succeed both personally and professionally.
Under the guidance of the Principal, Dr. M. Vanmathi, and the Head of the Department, Mrs. B. Rajalinga Malathi, the department planned and executed the programme successfully. Moreover, faculty members and student coordinators extended full support throughout the event.
Objectives of the Value Education Guest Lecture
The programme focused on holistic student development. In addition, it aligned with institutional and NAAC quality goals.
The main objectives were
- To promote moral and ethical values among students.
- To strengthen emotional intelligence and self awareness.
- To encourage positive attitude and ethical decision making.

Inaugural Session and Welcome Address
The programme commenced at 10.30 a.m. with a prayer. As a result, the gathering experienced a calm and respectful beginning.
Following the prayer, a student representative from the Department of Microbiology delivered the welcome address. She warmly greeted the dignitaries, faculty members, and students. Additionally, she highlighted the importance of value education in shaping character and discipline.
Introduction of the Resource Person
Next, the organizers formally introduced the resource person, Ms. G. Pon Bala Priya, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, St. Mary’s College Autonomous, Thoothukudi.
The introduction covered her academic background, teaching experience, and expertise in psychology. Consequently, the audience developed keen interest in the session. Her contribution to guiding young minds toward positive thinking received special mention.
Presidential Address
Subsequently, the Head of the Department, Mrs. B. Rajalinga Malathi, delivered the presidential address. She emphasized that higher education must balance academic excellence with moral values.
Furthermore, she highlighted discipline, empathy, and social responsibility as essential qualities. She also appreciated the organizing team and encouraged students to participate actively in the session.

She also guided students on managing stress, handling failures, and overcoming peer pressure. As a result, students learned how strong value systems support mental strength and stability.
