The KWC Zeta Council Association of Kamaraj Women’s College, Thoothukudi, organised the Onam Celebration 2026 on 25 August 2026 from 9.30 a.m. onwards on the college campus. The celebration brought students and staff together to experience the cultural heritage, festive spirit, unity and joy associated with Onam.

The campus featured traditional floral arrangements and festive decorations, which created a colourful and welcoming atmosphere. Moreover, the celebration provided students with an opportunity to appreciate cultural traditions while strengthening friendship and togetherness within the college community.

Objectives of the Onam Celebration

The Onam Celebration focused on the following objectives:

• Celebrate the cultural heritage and traditions of Onam
• Create awareness about Kerala’s harvest festival
• Promote unity and togetherness among students
• Encourage appreciation of different cultural traditions
• Develop creativity and teamwork through festive activities
• Strengthen friendship and cooperation within the college community

Welcome and Inaugural Session

The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the Principal, Correspondent, staff members, student coordinators and participants.

The welcome address highlighted the cultural significance of Onam and its message of harmony, prosperity, equality and togetherness. In addition, the organisers expressed their happiness in bringing the college community together to celebrate the festival.

The inaugural session created a positive atmosphere and encouraged everyone to participate enthusiastically in the celebrations.
