Report on Legal Literacy Class for College Students

The National Service Scheme (NSS) of Kamaraj Women’s College, Thoothukudi, organized a Legal Literacy Class for college students on 25 September 2026. The programme took place from 1.30 p.m. to 2.30 p.m. at the KWC Seminar Hall.

The programme aimed to create awareness among students about basic legal rights, duties, responsibilities and the importance of legal services. A total of 85 students participated in the programme and benefited from the session.

Adv. K. Kalaiselvi, ‘B’ Panel Advocate, District Legal Services Authority, Thoothukudi, served as the Resource Person and guided the students on legal awareness in a simple and understandable manner.

Objectives of the Legal Literacy Class

The programme focused on the following objectives:

• Create basic legal awareness among college students
• Help students understand their legal rights
• Create awareness about duties and responsibilities
• Explain the importance of legal services
• Encourage students to become responsible and legally aware citizens
• Present legal information in a simple and understandable manner
