Kamaraj Women’s College, Thoothukudi, celebrated the 80th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour on 15 August 2026. The celebration brought together the college leadership, faculty members and students to honour India’s freedom and remember the sacrifices of the nation’s freedom fighters.
The programme also encouraged students to understand their responsibilities as citizens and contribute positively to the progress of the nation. Moreover, patriotic speeches, cultural performances and the recognition of student achievements made the celebration meaningful and memorable.
Objectives of the Celebration
The Independence Day Celebration focused on the following objectives:

- Promote patriotism, unity and national pride among students

Inaugural Session
The programme commenced with the Tamil Thai Vazhthu, creating a solemn and respectful atmosphere.
Following this, Ms. Charumathi, III B.Com., delivered the Welcome Address. She warmly welcomed the dignitaries, Principal, faculty members and students to the celebration.

National Flag Hoisting
A major highlight of the 80th Independence Day Celebration was the unfurling of the National Flag by Dr. M. Vanmathi, Principal, Kamaraj Women’s College.

Following the flag hoisting, Dr. M. Vanmathi delivered a special Independence Day address.
