Resource Person
The resource person for the programme was Dr. M. Sakthi Mutharasi, BDS, MAPC.
Her professional background in dentistry and clinical psychology brought an interdisciplinary perspective to the session. Therefore, students had an opportunity to understand both oral health and psychological well-being through a connected approach.
At the beginning of the programme, the gathering warmly welcomed the resource person. Following her introduction, students were encouraged to participate actively and make effective use of the interaction.
A Harmony of Inner Health and Outer Smile
The guest lecture centred on the theme “A Harmony of Inner Health and Outer Smile.”
Dr. M. Sakthi Mutharasi explained the importance of viewing health as a complete state of well-being rather than considering physical appearance, oral health and mental wellness separately.
She highlighted how a healthy body, positive mindset and good oral health can contribute to greater confidence and a better quality of life. Furthermore, she encouraged students to develop healthy habits that support both their inner and outward well-being.
Importance of Oral and Personal Hygiene
A key part of the session focused on oral hygiene and personal care.
The resource person explained that maintaining good oral health forms an important part of overall wellness. She encouraged students to follow healthy daily practices and pay attention to their personal hygiene.
Moreover, the lecture helped students understand that good oral health contributes not only to physical well-being but also to confidence and comfortable social interaction.
The session therefore encouraged students to make personal and oral hygiene a regular part of their healthy lifestyle.
Mental Well-Being and Self-Esteem
The resource person placed special emphasis on mental well-being and self-esteem.
She encouraged students to develop a positive attitude towards themselves and recognise the importance of emotional balance. In addition, she discussed how confidence and emotional wellness can influence communication, relationships and the ability to handle everyday challenges.
Students learned that maintaining mental well-being can help them respond more positively to academic, personal and social situations.
Consequently, the session encouraged them to consider self-care as an essential part of a balanced life.
Building Confidence Through Healthy Living
The lecture also explored the relationship between health and self-confidence.
Students learned that confidence does not depend only on outward appearance. Instead, physical wellness, emotional stability, positive thinking and healthy personal habits collectively influence how individuals feel and interact with others.
Furthermore, the resource person encouraged students to develop habits that support long-term health rather than focusing only on temporary changes in appearance.
This approach helped participants understand the deeper meaning of the programme theme and the importance of creating harmony between inner wellness and outward confidence.
Importance of Professional Guidance
Another important message of the session was the need to seek appropriate professional guidance whenever necessary.
The resource person encouraged students to approach qualified professionals when they have concerns related to their physical, oral or psychological well-being. Moreover, she emphasized the value of paying attention to health concerns instead of ignoring them.
Her interdisciplinary perspective helped students understand that different areas of health often influence one another and therefore deserve appropriate attention.
Interactive Learning Session
The presentation remained informative and engaging throughout the programme.
Students listened attentively and actively participated in the interaction. In addition, they had an opportunity to clarify their doubts directly with the resource person.
The discussion made the session more relevant to their everyday lives and helped them understand the practical importance of maintaining healthy habits.
As a result, the programme encouraged students to take greater responsibility for their personal health and overall well-being.
