Report on Green Household Products Workshop
The Green Household Products Workshop was organized by the Department of Commerce and Banking & Finance and the ED Cell, Kamaraj Women’s College, Thoothukudi, in collaboration with Victory Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Tuticorin, on 9 September 2026. The workshop was held from 10.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. at Hall No. 2.
Dr. P. Aruna Devi organized the programme with the aim of giving students practical knowledge about the preparation, pricing, packaging and marketing of eco-friendly household products. The workshop also introduced students to small-scale business opportunities connected with these products.
A total of 33 students actively participated in the programme.
Objectives of the Green Household Products Workshop
The workshop focused on the following objectives:
- Provide practical training in household product preparation
- Teach correct measurement and mixing methods
- Introduce students to product colouring and presentation
- Develop basic bottling and packaging skills
- Explain production cost and selling price calculation
- Help students understand profit margins
- Create awareness about raw material sources and costs

Resource Persons
The workshop featured two resource persons:
- Mr. S. Karthikeyan, Director, Victory Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Tuticorin
- Mr. A.R.A. Rajkumar, MSME Trainer, Virudhunagar
Both resource persons shared practical knowledge and business guidance with the participants.
Practical Training in Product Preparation
Mr. A.R.A. Rajkumar conducted a detailed hands-on session on the preparation of phenyl, soap oil and soap powder.
He explained the raw materials required for each product and demonstrated the correct methods of measurement and mixing.
Moreover, he guided students step by step through the preparation process. As a result, students could observe each stage closely and understand the practical requirements of household product making.

The practical nature of the Green Household Products Workshop gave students direct experience in product preparation.
Under the guidance of the resource person, students actively prepared phenyl, soap oil and soap powder.
