Report on Freshers Day Celebration
The Department of Fashion Technology, Kamaraj Women’s College, Thoothukudi, organized a vibrant Freshers Day Celebration on 14 July 2026 from 1.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. at the KWC Seminar Hall. The programme was conducted to extend a warm welcome to the newly admitted first-year students and help them begin their academic journey in a friendly and encouraging environment.
The Freshers Day Celebration created an atmosphere of joy, friendship, and belonging. Moreover, the programme encouraged interaction between students while promoting confidence, teamwork, and departmental unity.
Objectives of the Programme
The celebration was organized to warmly welcome the first-year students and help them become comfortable in their new academic environment.

Inaugural Session
The programme commenced at 1.00 p.m. with the Tamil Thai Vazhthu, creating a respectful and auspicious atmosphere. Subsequently, the ceremonial lighting of the Kuthuvilakku was performed by the Principal, Correspondent, Head of the Department, faculty members, and student representatives.
The inaugural ceremony symbolized the beginning of a memorable academic journey for the newly admitted students.
Welcome Address
The programme was hosted by the Student Coordinators, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, students, and the newly admitted freshers.
The welcome address emphasized the importance of friendship, mutual respect, teamwork, and active participation in academic and co-curricular activities. Furthermore, students were encouraged to make the most of every opportunity available during their college life.
Principal’s Address
Dr. M. Vanmathi, Principal, addressed the gathering and welcomed the first-year students to the Department of Fashion Technology.
She motivated the students to maintain discipline, pursue academic excellence, and continuously develop professional and technical skills. Moreover, she encouraged them to actively participate in departmental programmes, workshops, industrial visits, and skill development activities that would prepare them for successful careers in the fashion industry.
