Report on Fire Safety Awareness – Learn, Prevent, Protect

The National Service Scheme (NSS), Kamaraj Women’s College, Thoothukudi, organized a Fire Safety Awareness programme titled “Learn, Prevent, Protect” on 28 September 2026. The programme took place from 1.00 p.m. to 2.00 p.m. at the KWC Ground.

The programme aimed to create awareness among students about fire prevention, emergency response, safe evacuation procedures and the proper use of fire extinguishers. Moreover, the practical demonstration helped students understand how they should respond during a fire emergency.

The Fire & Rescue Services team guided the participants and provided useful information on fire safety and emergency preparedness.

Objectives of the Fire Safety Awareness Programme

The programme focused on the following objectives:

• Create awareness about fire prevention
• Educate students about common causes of fire accidents
• Introduce basic emergency response procedures
• Explain safe evacuation practices
• Demonstrate the proper use of fire extinguishers
