Report on Fashion Quiz Competition

The Haute Couture Association, Department of Fashion Technology, Kamaraj Women’s College, Thoothukudi, organized a Fashion Quiz Competition on 28 September 2026 from 1.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. The competition tested students’ knowledge of key areas in Fashion Technology while encouraging quick thinking, critical analysis and active participation.

The quiz featured multiple technical rounds covering fabric science, garment construction, fashion history and international couture brands. Moreover, the programme gave students an opportunity to demonstrate their subject knowledge in an engaging and competitive setting.

Objectives of the Fashion Quiz Competition

The competition focused on the following objectives:

• Strengthen students’ knowledge of Fashion Technology
• Test understanding of important subject areas
• Develop quick recall and critical thinking
• Encourage students to explore fashion beyond classroom learning

Inaugural Session

The programme began with a traditional prayer song.

Following this, S. Selvalakshmi of III Fashion Technology delivered the Welcome Address and welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members and student participants.

Mrs. G. Jaya, Head of the Department of Fashion Technology, delivered the opening remarks. She highlighted the importance of technical quizzes in strengthening subject knowledge, critical analysis and quick recall among Fashion Technology students.

The inaugural session therefore set an academic and competitive tone for the programme.

Presidential Address

Dr. M. Vanmathi, Principal, Kamaraj Women’s College, delivered the Presidential Address.

She appreciated the Department of Fashion Technology and the Haute Couture Association for organizing the competition. Moreover, she encouraged the students to participate enthusiastically and demonstrate good sportsmanship.

Her address motivated the participants to approach the competition with confidence and a positive attitude.

Structure of the Quiz Competition

Before the competition began, Staff Coordinators Ms. M. Ananthajothi and Ms. J. Prema Maria Abisha explained the structure of the contest.

They introduced the participants to the assessment parameters and timing rules. This briefing helped students clearly understand the format before entering the competitive rounds.

C.S. Sanuja delivered the Vote of Thanks and expressed gratitude to the college Management, Principal, faculty coordinators and student volunteers for their support.

The programme formally concluded at 3.00 p.m. with the National Anthem.
