The Department of Commerce and Banking & Finance, Kamaraj Women’s College, Thoothukudi, successfully organized an Educational Trip to Ooty and Black Thunder, Mettupalayam, on 30th and 31st January 2026. Firstly, the trip aimed to provide students with practical exposure and industrial knowledge. Secondly, it sought to promote relaxation, teamwork, and interpersonal bonding. As a result, the two-day programme became a meaningful blend of education, experience, and entertainment.
Objectives of the Educational Trip
The primary objectives of the Educational Trip to Ooty were carefully designed to enhance both academic and personal development. Specifically, the trip aimed to:

Day 1 – Industrial Visit to Benchmark Tea & Chocolate Factory, Ooty
On the first day, students visited the renowned Benchmark Tea & Chocolate Factory, Ooty. Upon arrival, factory officials warmly welcomed the students and introduced them to the industrial environment. Subsequently, they explained the complete process of tea manufacturing in a detailed and systematic manner.

- Packaging and quality assurance procedures
Moreover, the officials emphasized the importance of maintaining consistent quality standards in the competitive beverage industry. As a result, students gained a clear understanding of how raw agricultural products transform into market-ready commodities.

In addition to tea production, students also learned about the chocolate manufacturing process. During this session, the factory staff demonstrated the preparation of various types of chocolates, including:

Meanwhile, these visits allowed students to appreciate the scenic beauty of the Nilgiris and understand the importance of environmental conservation. Day 2 – Recreational Visit to Black Thunder Theme Park, Mettupalayam
On the second day, students visited Black Thunder Theme Park, Mettupalayam, which focused on recreation, stress relief, and team bonding. Upon arrival, students eagerly participated in various water rides and amusement activities.
