Commencement of 79th Independence Day Celebration
79th Independence Day Celebration began with the dignified singing of the National Anthem, filling the campus with a sense of respect and unity. The solemn start set the perfect tone for the day’s events. Student Thansly then delivered a warm welcome address, greeting all dignitaries, faculty members, and students. Her gracious words created a welcoming environment and prepared everyone for a memorable celebration.
Leadership and Flag Hoisting
79th Independence Day Celebration was conducted under the leadership of the Correspondent, Mr. R. Muthuselvam. The highlight of the morning was the hoisting of the National Flag by the Principal, Dr. M. Vanmathi. As the flag unfurled, students and faculty saluted with pride, cherishing the values it represents.
In her inspiring address, Dr. Vanmathi reflected on the selfless sacrifices made by freedom fighters. She reminded students that while our forefathers fought to free the nation from British rule, the present generation faces a different kind of challenge—being unknowingly enslaved by excessive use of social media. She encouraged students to practise discipline, remain focused on their goals, and use technology wisely for self-improvement and the nation’s growth. Her speech offered a powerful reminder that freedom comes with responsibility.
Honouring Student Achievements
A special highlight of the celebration was the award ceremony for the winners of the Pavalam arts competitions held at the college level. Shields and medals were presented to recognise the students’ creativity, dedication, and artistic excellence.
This gesture not only celebrated their talents but also encouraged a culture of healthy competition and continuous learning among students.
Cultural Performances
The cultural segment of the celebration showcased the artistic spirit of Kamaraj Women’s College. Students Vaishnavi and Marshal Inisha performed a melodious patriotic song that deeply moved the audience and evoked a strong sense of love for the motherland.
Following this, a vibrant group dance was performed, adding colour and energy to the programme. The dance performance, full of graceful and coordinated movements, kept the audience engaged and inspired. These cultural events served as a reminder that patriotism can be expressed through art, music, and dance.
Closing the Event with Unity
Student Gayathri presented a detailed summary of the day’s events, recalling each important moment of the celebration. Her clear and concise presentation helped everyone reflect on the purpose and joy of the day.
The college then distributed sweets to all attendees, symbolising happiness, unity, and togetherness. The programme came to a fitting close with the National Anthem, which left everyone with a renewed commitment to the nation’s values of justice, liberty, and equality.
