The Extension Activity organized by the Department of Microbiology, Kamaraj Women’s College, Thoothukudi, was successfully conducted on 09th February 2026 at 2.00 p.m. at VVD Memorial Primary School. The primary objective of this programme was to create awareness among primary school students about basic hygiene practices, personal health, and the importance of cleanliness in daily life.
Moreover, the extension activity reflected the institution’s commitment to community outreach and social responsibility. At the same time, it provided an excellent opportunity for college students to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world social context. As a result, the programme proved beneficial for both school children and college students.
Objectives of the Extension Activity
The Extension Activity was designed with clear educational and social objectives. Specifically, the programme aimed to:

The programme was organized under the guidance of the Head of the Department of Microbiology, Mrs. B. Rajalinga Malathi, M.Sc., Ph.D.. Role of Student and Staff Coordinators
The effective coordination of the Extension Activity was ensured by the student coordinators D. Chriskilda Vincy (III MB) and J. Subha (II MB). They actively organized the sessions, coordinated the activities, and maintained student engagement throughout the programme.
In addition, the staff coordinators Miss. R. Durga Devi, M.Sc. and Mr. S. Ramachandran provided guidance and supervision to the students. Their support ensured discipline, clarity, and effective communication during the interaction with school children. As a result, the programme maintained both educational value and smooth execution.
