Report on AWAKE & AWARE Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign
The Anti-Drug Club of Kamaraj Women’s College, Thoothukudi, organized an anti-drug awareness campaign titled “AWAKE & AWARE” on 11 August 2026 from 11.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m. at the KWC Seminar Hall. The programme aimed to educate students about the harmful effects of drug and substance abuse. In addition, it encouraged them to make informed decisions and lead healthy, responsible, and drug-free lives.
The programme featured Mrs. R. Dharaniya, Sub-Inspector, and Mr. S. Sankaralingam, Sub-Inspector, South Police Station, Thoothukudi, as the resource persons. Through their interaction, students gained valuable insights into the physical, psychological, social, and legal consequences of drug abuse.
Objectives of the Programme
The AWAKE & AWARE Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign focused on the following objectives:
- Create awareness about the dangers of drug and substance abuse
- Educate students about the physical and psychological effects of addiction

The resource persons then interacted with the gathering and explained various aspects of drug abuse, addiction, prevention, and responsible decision-making.
Awareness on the Harmful Effects of Drug Abuse
Mrs. R. Dharaniya, Sub-Inspector, delivered an informative session on the dangers associated with drug addiction.
