The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) of Kamaraj Women’s College organized a Five-Day Summer Free Workshop at Bharat Ratna Kamarajar Matriculation Hr. Sec. School, Thoothukudi from 27 April 2026 to 30 April 2026 and on 02 May 2026. The workshop was planned to promote creativity, entrepreneurship, and practical skill development among participants. It also created an excellent platform for learning useful techniques that can support self-employment and small-scale business ideas.

The Summer Free Workshop combined craft learning, fitness activities, and product development in a meaningful way. Each day included Yoga and Zumba sessions in the morning, followed by practical training in creative and eco-friendly product making. Therefore, the programme supported both physical well-being and skill-based learning.

Moreover, the workshop focused on sustainable ideas and income-oriented skills. It encouraged participants to convert simple materials into useful and marketable products. As a result, the programme became both educational and inspiring.

Day 2 of the Summer Free Workshop

On 28 April 2026, the second day of the Summer Free Workshop began with the regular morning routine of Yoga and high-energy Zumba. This helped the participants remain fresh, focused, and active.

The technical session then shifted to Paper Stationery Organizers. During this session, the trainers demonstrated how to use recycled cardboard and handmade paper to create desk organizers, pen stands, and file holders. The participants observed the process carefully and then practised the techniques on their own.

Through this activity, participants learned structural folding and precise cutting. These are important skills in eco-friendly product design. Therefore, the second day gave them a better understanding of how simple materials can become useful and marketable products.

Day 3 of the Summer Free Workshop

The third day of the Summer Free Workshop was held on 29 April 2026. As on the previous days, the programme began with a calm Yoga session followed by an energetic Zumba workout. This combination created a healthy and active start.

The technical focus of the day was on Saree Pre-pleating and Box Folding. This session introduced the participants to a professional service that has strong demand in the fashion and bridal industry. The trainers explained how to measure shoulder pleats, arrange waist pleats, and use an iron box to set neat creases for a ready-to-wear appearance.

In addition, the participants learned the technique of Box Folding to keep sarees neat and crisp for storage or travel. Because of this, the learners gained a useful commercial skill that can support professional service opportunities.

A special Product Showcase was arranged on the final day. In this exhibition area, all the products created during the workshop were displayed. These included wall hangings, stationery organizers, and customized sarees. This display gave the participants a sense of achievement and allowed guests and faculty members to appreciate their work.
