The 77th Republic Day Celebration was commemorated with immense pride and patriotic fervor on 26 January 2026 at Kamaraj Women’s College, Thoothukudi. First, the institution brought together students, faculty members, and management to honour the spirit of the Indian Constitution. As a result, the event successfully strengthened national awareness, unity, and civic responsibility among the academic community.

Initially, the programme commenced with the soulful rendition of Tamil Thai Vazhthu, setting a respectful and dignified tone. Then, the Welcome Address was delivered by Ms. J. Sarafina Philome (II Micro). Through her speech, she highlighted the historical importance of Republic Day and the constitutional values that guide the nation. Consequently, students gained a deeper understanding of democracy, equality, and justice.

Flag Hoisting and Pledge Ceremony

Following the welcome address, the ceremonial hoisting of the National Flag took place. In the presence of Mr. R. Muthuselvam, Secretary of Kamaraj College, the National Flag was unfurled by the Correspondent, Mr. S. Ramachandran, along with Principal Dr. M. Vanmathi. As a result, the campus resonated with patriotic pride and respect for the nation.

Immediately after, the Pledge was administered by the College Chairman. Through this pledge, students reaffirmed their responsibility toward the nation and committed themselves to uphold unity, integrity, and constitutional values. Moreover, members of the management actively participated, thereby reinforcing their dedication to national development and institutional excellence.

Address by the Dignitaries

Subsequently, the dignitaries addressed the gathering. Most importantly, the Principal and the Correspondent delivered inspiring speeches that focused on patriotism, discipline, and social responsibility. In addition, they emphasized the importance of youth participation in nation-building and ethical leadership.

Furthermore, the speakers encouraged students to become responsible citizens by contributing positively to society. As a result, the students felt motivated to align their academic pursuits with national service and civic engagement.
