Empowering ED Cell Hackathon | Innovation in Action

The ED Cell Hackathon was successfully conducted at Kamaraj Women’s College from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. First, the programme was organized under the EDII-TN Nimirndhu Nil initiative. As a result, students received an opportunity to develop innovation, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance skills.

Following this, the Faculty Coordinator addressed the gathering. Moreover, he highlighted the role of hackathons in connecting academic learning with real-world problem-solving. In addition, he stressed the importance of applying classroom knowledge in practical contexts.

Most importantly, the session emphasized one clear goal: to move students from thinking to doing. Therefore, students were encouraged to participate actively, collaborate effectively, and innovate confidently.

Keynote Session by the Resource Person

Next, Ms. M. Jagathambal delivered the keynote session. During her address, she focused on developing a strong entrepreneurial mindset. Specifically, her talk addressed three essential pillars:

  • The BBA Perspective: Secondly, she showed how tools like SWOT analysis and resource planning strengthen technical projects.
  • Resilience (Nimirndhu Nil): Finally, she encouraged students to treat failure as feedback rather than defeat.
  • As a result, students gained clarity on how to balance creativity with business strategy.

    Technical Hackathon Proceedings

Subsequently, students actively participated in the core hackathon activities. First, organizers divided participants into teams. Then, each team received a problem statement from EDII-TN. Consequently, students began working on real social and economic challenges.

  • Focus Areas: In particular, teams worked on solutions related to sustainable agriculture, digital tools for artisans, environmental care, and community development.
  • Thus, students applied both technical knowledge and management skills in a practical setting.

  • As a result, students gained valuable experience in public speaking, idea defense, and business communication.
