Industrial Visit 2025: 84 Students Gain Powerful Insights into Dairy and Retail Industries

Industrial Visit 2025

The Department of Commerce and Banking & Finance at Kamaraj Women’s College, Thoothukudi, organized an Industrial Visit on 23rd August 2025. The visit included an educational tour to Aadhan Milk, Alancholai, Kanyakumari District, followed by an exposure trip to Lulu Mall, Trivandrum. The main objective was to help students gain practical knowledge and real-time industrial exposure, complementing the theoretical concepts they study in classrooms.

Visit to Aadhan Milk

At Aadhan Milk, students received a warm welcome from Mr. Anish, the Administration Officer. He provided an overview of the company’s history and operations. He explained the pocket milk manufacturing process, beginning from the collection of raw milk from farmers to quality testing, pasteurization, processing, and packaging. Students observed the advanced machinery used in production and noted the hygiene standards maintained throughout.

They also learned about the distribution methods used by the company. Packaged milk and by-products like curd, ghee, butter, and flavored milk are distributed to different regions. Students studied the importance of cold storage and how it helps in preserving product quality. Moreover, they explored the administrative aspects of the industry, including workforce management, supply chain operations, and strategies to ensure customer satisfaction.

This segment of the visit gave students a clear idea of how different departments work together to maintain smooth operations in the dairy industry.

Exposure at Lulu Mall, Trivandrum

After the industrial visit, students traveled to Lulu Mall, Trivandrum, one of the largest malls in South India. Here, they gained firsthand knowledge of retail management, pricing strategies, and modern marketing techniques. Students observed differences in product pricing compared to regular shops. This led to discussions on overhead costs, brand value, customer experience, and value-added pricing.

They also studied organized retail systems and compared them with traditional shops. The group examined how the mall managed customer service, billing systems, promotional activities, and inventory control. By doing so, students understood how modern retail outlets function with efficiency while offering a superior shopping experience.

Learning Outcomes

The Industrial Visit proved to be highly valuable. Students gained insights into both the manufacturing and retail industries, bridging the gap between theory and practice. They learned about production processes, distribution methods, administrative functions, and marketing strategies.

Moreover, they improved their analytical and observational skills. They were able to connect classroom learning with real-world applications, which will greatly benefit their academic and professional growth.

Participation and Impact

A total of 84 students, along with staff members of the department, actively took part in this visit. The experience was highly informative, interactive, and practical. It created a positive impact by motivating students to explore careers in commerce, banking, finance, and management.

Conclusion

The Industrial Visit 2025 organized by Kamaraj Women’s College was a great success. The students gained strong industry exposure through their visit to Aadhan Milk and Lulu Mall. The program enriched their knowledge and provided them with practical skills that extend beyond the classroom. Such opportunities continue to inspire students and prepare them for future challenges in the business world.
