Founding Society

The Tuticorin Education Society is a registered non-profit organization established in 1966 with the aim of providing quality higher education to the people of Thoothukudi and nearby areas. It was founded by Thiru A.M.M.S. Ganesan Nadar, a respected industrialist and philanthropist, in association with the Karapettai Hindu Nadar Sangam, a leading charitable organization in the region.

As the Managing Director of Tuticorin Spinning Mills, Thiru A.M.M.S. Ganesan Nadar brought both vision and leadership to the Society. Serving as its founder Patron, he played a key role in setting up the college and guiding its early growth. His efforts laid a strong foundation for the institution to serve as a center of academic excellence for generations to come.

Apart from Kamaraj Women’s College, the Society also manages two other educational institutions within its lush 50-acre campus: Kamaraj College, an Arts and Science institution exclusively for women, and Kamaraj School, a highly sought-after English-medium Matriculation school. Together, these institutions serve over 5,000 students, making it one of the largest educational campuses in southern Tamil Nadu.

A significant number of students come from rural backgrounds and have studied in government and government-aided schools, reflecting the Society’s core mission of serving the community through accessible quality education.

Kamaraj College and Kamaraj Women’s College are affiliated with Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli. Bharat Ratna Kamarajar Matriculation Higher Secondary School, commonly known as Kamaraj School, is recognized by the Directorate of Matriculation Schools, Government of Tamil Nadu.
